Rachel Narozniak from ''[[Dancing Astronaut]]'' wrote that ''Balance'' "emblematizes the artistic diligence" driving van Buuren since his debut appearance, while comprising a "broad assembly of dance styles, anthemic chord progressions, vocal-centric constructions, and ear-catching lyrical concepts and hooks".
