Born in [[Hostalric]] in 1788,<ref name="COM">{{cite web |title=Buenaventura Codina y Augerolas |date=14 September 2021 |url=https://cmglobal.org/en/2021/09/14/buenaventura-codina-y-augerolas/ |publisher=Congregation of the Mission |access-date=16 October 2022}}</ref> Codina was ordained a priest in 1810 and was appointed Bishop of Canarias in 1847 by [[Pope Pius IX]];<ref name="ch.bishop.bcodina" /><ref name="GC">{{cite web |title=Diocese of Islas Canarias Spain |url=http://www.gcatholic.org/dioceses/diocese/isla1.htm?tab=bishops |publisher=GCatholic |access-date=16 October 2022}}</ref> he held this position until his death in 1857.

In 1978, his body was exhumed from the crypt of the [[Las Palmas Cathedral|Cathedral of Santa Ana]] and was found to be in an incorrupt state, and is now on display in the Chapel of Our Lady of Los Dolores.  He was declared a [[Servant of God]] and his case for [[beatification]] continues.<ref name="COM" />
