Charles Martin Weber III was born on October 23, 1893 in [[San Jose, California]] to Charles Martin Weber II (1851-1912) and Grace May Sinnott (1860-1897). He had an older sister, Helen Weber Kennedy (1889-1983) and he was the grandson of the founder of the city of [[Stockton, California]], Captain Charles Maria Weber (1814-1881). His mother died of cholera when he was 3 years old.
