== Biography ==
The son of George Henry Arthur Vaughan, 6th Earl of Lisburne, and grandson of Ernest Augustus Malet Vaughan, 5th Earl of Lisburne, he succeeded his father as 7th [[Earl of Lisburne]], 10th [[Viscount Lisburne]], and 10th Baron Fethard in the [[Peerage of Ireland]] on 4 September 1899.
Lisburne was commissioned as a probationary Second Lieutenant in the [[Scots Guards]] in February 1912,{{sfn|Hesilrige|1921}}<ref name="LG19120213">{{London Gazette | issue=28580 | date=13 February 1912 | pages=1064 | supp= }} (effective, 14 February 1912)</ref> resigning his commission in April 1914.<ref name="LG19140421">{{London Gazette | issue=28823 | date=21 April 1914 | pages=3295 | supp= }}</ref>
He fought in the [[World War I|First World War]] in the [[Welsh Guards]],{{sfn|Hesilrige|1921}} where he was mentioned in dispatches<ref name="LG19200127">{{London Gazette | issue=31759 | date=27 January 1920 | pages=1224 | supp=y }}</ref> and was wounded.
