For the only time, results from a [[FIS Alpine World Ski Championships|World Championships]] were included in the [[FIS Alpine Ski World Cup|World Cup]] points standings, then in its [[1969–70 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup|fourth season]]. [[1968 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup|Two seasons earlier]], results from the [[Alpine skiing at the 1968 Winter Olympics|Winter Olympics]] (concurrent World Championships) were also included in the World Cup standings.
The French team again led with ten medals: three gold, five silver, and two bronze.
