In 2013, the city of [[Meshkin Dasht]], the Fardis neighborhood of the city of [[Karaj]], and other parts were separated from the county in the establishment of Fardis County. Fardis was transferred to the new Central District as the county's capital, and elevated to the status of a city.<ref name="Fardis County Establishment"/>
