The HAAC's earliest ancestor was the '''[[Missouri College Athletic Union]]''' (MCAU), which was formed in 1924 when the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association (now the [[Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association]] or MIAA) split in two.
