In the past, this genus was often treated as a subgenus of ''[[Euchelus]]''. ==Description==
The shell has a turbinate-conic shape as in ''[[Euchelus]]''. The [[Spire (mollusc)|spire]] is elevated. The [[Operculum (gastropod)|operculum]] is multispiral as in a typical ''[[Trochus]]'' and with more, less rapidly expanding [[Whorl (mollusc)|whorl]]s compared with ''Euchelus''.<ref>[https://archive.org/details/manualofconcholo111tryo Tryon (1889), Manual of Conchology XI, Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia]</ref> Species in this genus has typically two teeth, joined by a U-shaped notch, where the [[Columella (gastropod)|columella]] and the basal lips join.
