Hræthhun was consecrated bishop between 814 and 816.<ref name=Handbook218 /> He was styled [[Abbots of Abingdon|Abbot of Abingdon]] in a charter dated 811. However, this charter was found to be a forgery,<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.anglo-saxons.net/hwaet/?do=seek&query=S+166|title=Anglo-Saxons.net : S 166}}</ref> and so Kelly (2000) excluded him from the list of abbots.
