Taylor was born in [[Aberdeen]]. ==Ordained ministry==
He was ordained deacon in 1956, and priest in 1957 by the [[Diocese of Aberdeen and Orkney|Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney]]. He was [[Curate|assistant curate]] at St Margaret's Church in [[Aberdeen]] (1956–1958) and then curate (1958–1959) and [[Rector (ecclesiastical)|rector]] (1959–1964) of Holy Cross Church in [[Glasgow]]. Taylor was elected [[Bishop of Glasgow and Galloway]] in March 1991 and was consecrated in May 1991. He retired in 1996 and became an honorary canon of St Mary's Cathedral in 1999.
