Beginning in the late 1980s, he produced a number of scientific papers on the history and the relations between [[Annam (Chinese province)|Annam]] (modern day [[Vietnam]]), [[Rattanakosin Kingdom|Siam]] (modern day [[Thailand]]) and [[Dark ages of Cambodia|pre-colonial Cambodia]].
