Boahen first played [[U Sports football]] for the [[York Lions football|York Lions]] from 2018 to 2021.<ref name="Bio"/> He played in seven games his freshman year in 2018, recording nine tackles and 0.5 sacks while earning [[Ontario University Athletics|OUA]] All-Rookie honors. He started all eight games during the 2019 season, totaling 24.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one pass breakup and one forced fumble.<ref name="Bio"/> The [[2020 U Sports football season]] was cancelled due to the [[COVID-19 pandemic]]. Boahen started all six of the team's games in 2021, accumulating 22.5 tackles and two sacks.<ref name="Bio"/>
