Lugnez is first mentioned around 501-600 as ''Lugduniaco''. The Canton of Jura school system provides two year of non-obligatory [[Kindergarten]], followed by six years of Primary school.  This is followed by three years of obligatory lower Secondary school where the students are separated according to ability and aptitude.
