Mern church was originally a [[Romanesque architecture|Romanesque]] brick-covered church, later rebuild and extended, now as a white-washed village church. In the early afternoon, 29. August 1878, a 4.6 kg [[meteorite|meteoritic]] stone fell from the sky with impact just east of Mern.
