The '''Monta Vista Fault''' is a potentially active [[Fault (geology)|fault]],<ref name=cpuc>[http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/Environment/info/esa/monta/monta_geo.htm "Geological problems"], a section from the Pacific Gas And Electric Company'S Monta Vista, Wolfe, Stelling Looping Project Environmental Review, [[California Public Utilities Commission]]</ref> (a fault capable of generating destructive [[earthquake]]s) in [[Santa Clara County, California]]. It is a relatively short fault that runs between and generally parallel to the much longer [[San Andreas Fault]] and [[Hayward Fault Zone]]s, trending northwest along the eastern [[foothill]]s of the [[Santa Cruz Mountains]] in the [[Coast Range Geomorphic Province]].
