==Geography==
Muolen has an area, {{as of|2006|lc=on}}, of {{convert|10.3|km2|sqmi|abbr=on}}.  Of this area, 85.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 7.7% is forested.  Of the rest of the land, 7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.1%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes).<ref name=SFSO/>
The municipality is located in the St Gallen ''Wahlkreis.''.  It is the northernmost municipality in the canton.  It consists of the village of Muolen and multiple [[hamlet (place)|hamlets]] as well as part of the ''Hudelmoos'', the last high [[moorland]] in the ''Fürstenland'' (a historic region comprising the ''Wahlkreises'' of [[Wil (Wahlkreis)|Wil]], St. Gallen and [[Rorschach (Wahlkreis)|Rorschach]]).
