The locality is about {{convert|23|km}} north-east of the town of [[Launceston, Tasmania|Launceston]]. The [[2016 Australian census|2016 census]] has a population of 291 for the state suburb of Nunamara.<ref name=Census2016Y/>
Nunamara has a truck stop style general store, a small village hall and a war memorial.
