The airport sits on land owned by the county. For the 12-month period ending September 16, 2021, the airport had 5,616 aircraft operations, an average of 15 per day: 81% [[general aviation]], 20% [[air taxi]] and <1% [[military aviation|military]]. * On May 6, 2023, a [[Piper PA-28 Cherokee]] crashed after departing Sandusky Regional Airport. The plane had trouble after takeoff and was attempting to return to the airport.
