The moshav was founded in 1949 with the assistance of [[Hapoel HaMizrachi]] and the [[Jewish Agency for Israel]]. Its name originates from the [[Shevi'it (Talmud)|fifth tractate]] of the [[Mishnah]].{{citation needed|date=May 2021}}
