Shoppers World traces its founding to the 1930s, when Sam Dushey Sr. founded "The Mart" in [[Baltimore, Maryland]]. In the 1950s, Dushey opened the Pitkin Bargain Center on Pitkin Avenue in [[Brooklyn, New York]].
