It was powered by a [[naturally aspirated]] {{cvt|1.6|L|cuin}} [[Toyota A engine#Racing Applications|Toyota 4A-GE]] [[Inline-four engine|four-cylinder engine]], producing {{cvt|240|hp|kW}}, which [[Rear-wheel drive|drove the rear wheels]] through a 5-speed [[Hewland]] [[sequential gearbox]].
