First appearing on 10 April 1859, ''The Braidwood Dispatch and Mining Journal'' was published twice weekly from 1859 until January 1958. From 2 July 1915, it alternated with ''The Braidwood Review and District Advocate''.<ref>{{cite web|title=State Library of NSW catalogue entry|url=http://library.sl.nsw.gov.au/record=b1158633~S1|accessdate=9 April 2013}}</ref> The newspaper was on Wednesdays and Saturdays until June 1915 and then Tuesdays and Saturdays.<ref name="the newspaper" /> In the early 1860s the newspaper was purchased by John Musgrave and Mr. J. Cosgrove.
