'''Tikokino''' is a town in the [[Central Hawke's Bay District]] on the east coast of the [[North Island]] of New Zealand. It is located {{convert|20|km}} northwest of [[Waipawa]] and {{convert|55|km}} southwest of [[Hastings, New Zealand|Hastings]]. The township was founded by the Government in 1860. Hampden, as it was originally called, began as sawmilling centre for local forests, becoming a service town for the farms which took their place. By the early 2000s, most residents were working at a nearby meat processing plant, dairy farming, or for local growers.<ref name="teara" />

There were 75 households, comprising 93 males and 93 females, giving a sex ratio of 1.0 males per female. The median age was 45.3 years (compared with 37.4 years nationally), with 36 people (18.8%) aged under 15 years, 18 (9.4%) aged 15 to 29, 105 (54.7%) aged 30 to 64, and 27 (14.1%) aged 65 or older.
