Longer and higher rides are often used as a means of accessing remote areas, such as a [[rainforest]] [[Canopy (forest)|canopy]]. In the 1970s, wildlife biologists set up zip-lines as a way to study and explore the dense [[rainforests]] of Costa Rica without disturbing the environment. The business idea for zip-line [[canopy tour]]s developed from these.
