In the UK these schools are several highly performing Catholic schools who lost their rights to select pupils in 1999 (except The London Oratory which selected boys up until 2006). These schools are all in expensive neighbourhoods and score 30-35% above the national average in their examination results. These schools admit the highest-scoring applicants based on religious observance and practice using a points system.
