This category is principally for biographical articles relating to deaths in police custody that occur in the United Kingdom. It may also contain articles about deaths in police custody from a wider perspective such as government reports into, legal and other efforts to reduce, non-government organisations that seek to reduce, and efforts to obtain justice for families of victims of death in police custody. For the purpose of this category "police custody" is widely defined to include persons evading arrest, persons not under arrest but assisting with police enquiries, and persons in custody for their own protection. If in doubt ask yourself whether, at the time of their death, the person had a reasonable expectation that the police owed them a duty of care. If the answer is "Yes" then that person belongs in this category. It does not include persons in the care or custody of the prison service.
