The DRDO Archer is an armed version of the DRDO Rustom-1, shown above

The DRDO Archer is a UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle) being developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to fulfill the requirements for an armed unmanned aerial platform for the Indian Armed Forces. It is a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drone.

The work on this drone was started in the year 2021 and the production commenced in 2022. The success of the Baykar Bayraktar TB2 in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war and the Second Libyan Civil War showcased the success of MALE UCAVs in uncontested airspace against Heavy armor. The Archer UCAV will be comparable to the Bayraktar TB2 in specifications, with lower range, service ceiling and payload.

It is an armed version of the DRDO Rustom drone. It will be lighter than the Rustom drone and most likely will be fitted with two anti-tank guided missiles

Its speculated specifications are-

Payload - 80kg

Endurance - 12hrs

Service ceiling - 5,000m

Range- 220km
