Bangor West is one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) in Ards and North Down, Northern Ireland.[1] The district elects five members to Ards and North Down Borough Council and contains the wards of Bryansburn, Kilcooley, Rathgael, Rathmore and Silverstream.[2] Bangor West forms part of the North Down constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament. It was created for the 1985 local elections, replacing North Down Area B and North Down Area C which had existed since 1973, where it contained originally seven wards (Bryansburn, Clandeboye, Crawfordsburn, Dufferin, Princestown, Silverstream and Spring Hill). For the 2014 local elections, it was reduced to five wards losing areas to the new Holywood and Clandeboye DEA.
