The templates detect the simultaneous use of synonymous parameters:
- in
{{infobox ship career}}|Ship struck=and|Ship stricken=|Ship honours=and|Ship honors=
- in
{{infobox ship characteristics}}|Ship draught=and|Ship draft=|Ship armour=and|Ship armor=
When both of a pair of synonymous parameters have assigned values, the template renders the parameters with an error message: Error: has synonymous parameter. Choose one of the synonymous parameters and use that one; leave the other blank or remove it entirely. Articles listed in this category should only be added by Module:WPSHIPS utilities.
