The chapters of the Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan manga series were written and illustrated by Hiroshi Shiibashi. The series was first published in Shueisha as a one-shot in 2007. It was serialized in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2008 to 2012, with its chapters collected in 25 tankōbon volumes. Viz Media acquired the licensing rights for a North American release of the manga and anime adaptations.
