Perche en Nocé (French pronunciation: [pɛʁʃ ɑ̃ nose]) is a commune in the department of Orne, northwestern France. The municipality was established on 1 January 2016 by merger of the former communes of Colonard-Corubert, Dancé, Nocé (the seat), Préaux-du-Perche, Saint-Aubin-des-Grois, and Saint-Jean-de-la-Forêt.[2]

Geography

The Commune along with another 70 communes shares part of a 47,681 hectare, Natura 2000 conservation area, called the Forêts et étangs du Perche.[3]

Notable buildings and places

The Jardin François is a 2 hectares (4.9 acres) garden, based in Préaux-du-Perche that began life in 1995 and is open to the public.[5] It is classified as a Jardins remarquables by the Ministry of Culture and the Comité des Parcs et Jardins de France.[6]

Notable People

  • Léopold Nègre (1879 – 1961) a French physician and biologist who is buried here in Nocé.[16]
