Usage

For example:

will show:
 | This category is for stub articles relating to Asian association football biographies. You can help by expanding them. This stub category is a parent-only category, that is, all stubs within it should be in one of its subcategories, or marked with a template that may eventually have a separate subcategory. To add an article to this category, please use the appropriate template for one of its subcategories. |
The |category type= parameter inserts additional text between the phrases "This category is for" and "stub articles relating to ...", so using |category type=biographical will give "This category is for biographical stub articles relating to ...". This parameter is only valid if |article= is also set.
There is also an optional parameter |WikiProject= which links to a relevant WikiProject page. Again, this is only valid if |article= is also set. For example:

|WikiProject=Massachusetts

will show:

Missing parameters
If the |category= parameter is blank or absent, the category is categorised to Category:Stub categories needing attention with sortkey Q.
Incorrect parameters
If the unrecognised parameter |newstub= is present and non-blank, the category is categorised to Category:Stub categories needing attention with sortkey N.
