The Birthplace of Charles de Gaulle (French: Maison natale de Charles de Gaulle) is a French museum located in Lille, in the Hauts-de-France, France. Previously, the museum was the home of Charles de Gaulle's maternal grandparents, where he was born in 1890.[1] Property of the Charles-de-Gaulle Foundation, the house is currently managed by the Departmental Council of Nord. Opened to the public in 1983, it has been classified as a monument historique since 1989 and obtained the Maisons des Illustres label in 2011.[2] Located at 9 rue Princesse, in the Old Lille district, the museum welcomes between 19,000 and 20,000 visitors each year.[3]
