This is a chronological summary of the major events of the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, which was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The opening ceremony is scheduled on the 24th of August with the last day of competition and the closing ceremony on 5 September.[1]
Calendar
The preliminary schedule was announced on 19 October 2018.[2] The finalized schedule was released on 13 August 2019.[3][4] The original schedule was from 25 August to 10 September 2020. To postpone the Paralympics until 2021, all events were delayed by 364 days (one day less than a full year to preserve the same days of the week), giving a new schedule of 24 August to 9 September 2021.[5]
