Eleventh federal electoral district of Oaxaca

The eleventh federal electoral district of Oaxaca (Distrito electoral federal 11 de Oaxaca) is a defunct Mexican electoral district. During its existence, it returned one deputy to the Chamber of Deputies for each three-year legislative period by means of the first-past-the-post system. Votes cast in the district also counted towards the calculation of proportional representation ("plurinominal") deputies elected from the third region.[1][2] Oaxaca's 11th district was created as part of the 1996 redistricting process, which assigned the state an additional district to the ten it already had.[3][4] In the 2017 redistricting process, Oaxaca's seat allocation was again reduced to ten.[5] The 11th district was thus first contested in the 1997 mid-term election and it elected its final deputy in the 2015 mid-terms.

District territory

Throughout its existence, the 11th district's head town (cabecera distrital), where results from individual polling stations were gathered together and collated, was the city of Pinotepa Nacional.[3] Under the 2005 districting plan, it covered 40 municipalities in the state's Costa Chica region.[6][7]
