Satnam Singh Sandhu is a Chancellor of Chandigarh University and a nominated Member of Parliament,[1][2] Rajya Sabha.[3][4][5] Sandhu founded the Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) at Landran in Mohali in 2001 and later in 2012 he founded Chandigarh University. Sandhu is also actively involved in community services in health and wellness sectors and runs two NGOs, the Indian Minorities Foundation and the New India Development Foundation.[6]

Personal Life

Satnam Singh Sandhu was born on 11 September 1969 in Rasulpur, a remote village in Punjab. Coming from humble beginnings, he imbibed the virtues of perseverance, tenacity, and fortitude from his freedom-fighter grandfather. He is married to Mrs. Damandeep Kaur Sandhu and has two sons, Deep Inder Singh Sandhu and Jai Inder Singh Sandhu.

Political life

Satnam Singh Sandhu is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha,[7] nominated by the President of India in 2023 in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the nation through the field of education - a distinction achieved by few. He serves as the Convenor of the Indian Minorities Foundation, promoting communal harmony through initiatives such as the Vishwa Sadbhavana and the All India Minority Conclave. Sandhu is also a member of the Think20 Core Group under the G20 and holds the position of Vice President of the Education Promotion Society for India, where he actively advocates for reforms and advancements in the higher education sector.
