The bowstring evolved from bow & arrow usage & thus was independently 'developed' across many contenents just as various types of drums were. The Americas had a different style that I am certainly aware of, so I added that in, but I do believe that it's use was found in other continents as well. With a bit of research this could probably be described more factually, but I at least had to add in the continent that I was positive about! current
