The Women's 200m Freestyle competition of the swimming events at the 1979 Pan American Games took place on 3 July at the Piscina Olimpica Del Escambron in San Juan, Puerto Rico.[1] The last Pan American Games champion was Kim Peyton of the United States.[2][3][4][5][6][7] This race consisted of four lengths of the pool, all in freestyle.[8]
