The women's 400 metre freestyle competition of the swimming events at the 1999 Pan American Games took place on 4 August at the Pan Am Pool.[1] The last Pan American Games champion was Brooke Bennett of US.[2][3][4][5][6][7] This race consisted of eight lengths of the pool, with all eight being in the freestyle stroke.[8]
