Sir Timothy John Le Cocq KC (born 1956[3]) is a Jersey lawyer who is the current Bailiff of Jersey.[4] He was sworn in on 17 October 2019.[5]
Early life
Le Cocq was born in Jersey on 9 December 1956.[6] He went to school at Beaulieu Convent School and De La Salle College.[3] In 1980, he graduated with a BA Hon Law Psychology from Keele University.[7]
Legal career
Le Cocq was called to the English Bar in 1981 and to the Jersey Bar in 1985. He was a Crown Advocate 1996–2008,[8] HM Solicitor General 2008–09,[4] Attorney General 2009–15
Judicial appointments
Le Cocq served as Deputy Bailiff 2015–19.[4][8] He was appointed Bailiff in 2019.[1] Le Cocq was knighted in the 2022 Birthday Honours for services to Jersey.[9] In October 2024, Le Cocq announced that he would be retiring as Bailiff on 17 October 2025, six years to the day from his appointment in 2019.[10]
